Even though the colonists in the thirteen colonies were going through the pre revolution they still had a normal cultural customs in their homes. Religion specifying in culture played a main role in peoples beliefs by inspiring to revolt. A very special individual that also inspired many to revolt was man named John Locke his words of wisdom setting up standards and requirements for a government made people believe in hope.
Around this time period families and friends would gather around to play board games which provided them with inexpensive parlour entertainment. Before and during the American Revolution religion (specifically Catholicism) had a great impact on people. In new England the main religion was Catholicism, but over all there were different protestant branches that played a major role in their beliefs. Religion had an impact in starting the American Revolution and continuing it. It inspired people and told them that a revolution was “good" under the eyes of god. Quotes that were commonly told to people into taking these beliefs went something like this "the principal Seat of the glorious Kingdom which Christ shall erect upon Earth in the latter Days. (PBS)" People looked up to their religious leaders at this time for enlightenment and these leaders wanted them to start a revolution. John Locke spoke about how the purpose of a government was to protect your freedom, your life your freedom and your property and that when a government wasn't doing their jobs the people had the right to over throw their government which is exactly what the people from the 13 colonies did.
